Trevallyn woman charged with high range drink driving

A 75-year-old Trevallyn woman who recorded a breath alcohol reading of .130 has been arrested and charged by police after a crash at Riverside on Tuesday.

Police were called to a crash on Reatta Rd at 6:55pm, finding that a blue 2007 Honda sedan had struck a parked grey 2020 Nissan SUV. Both vehicles were severely damaged.

Police will allege the driver, who was the only person involved in the crash, was found nearby and taken into custody for mandatory testing.

Sgt Gavin Chugg said: "The driver was charged with high range drink driving offences and bailed to appear in the Launceston Magistrates Court in February."

"Here is another unacceptable example of a driver that has been willing to risk her licence, her safety, and the safety of others by drink driving".

"It is extremely fortunate that no one was injured in the crash," Sergeant Chugg said.

Anyone who witnessed the crash or the vehicle prior to the incident should contact police on 131 444.
