TSU team on online course development won the first place in the international EdTek Award OOC held as part of the HYPER / DIR-2025 PeterAI: Digital Learning and Artificial Intelligence conference. Tomsk State University became the winner in the nomination "The best use of AI tools in online courses" with the project "Generative AI for a teacher: strategies, tools, ethics".
The course, which was created by a large team of developers fr om the Institute of Distance Education of TSU (Artyom Feshchenko, Kristina Yakovleva, Ulyana Savchenko, Nikita Prokopenko, Arina Ivanova, Svetlana Veledinskaya, Daria Matsepuro and Maria Khudyshkina) not only introduces teachers to new technologies, but also shows how they work in practice, and also provides ready-made solutions for learning.
One of the key elements of the course was the AI evaluator - a system of personalized feedback built into the course that uses the capabilities of artificial intelligence to evaluate tasks and help with training. This tool has already aroused interest among the educational community as an example of effective digital pedagogy.
- Two products were presented from the TSU Institute of Distance Education to the EdTek Award competition: online course "Generative AI for a Teacher" and our unique development - an AI evaluator. We received awards for two products at once, since they are closely related to each other. Now many universities are developing courses on artificial intelligence for teachers, but only TSU has the AI evaluator integrated into the course - comments Kristina Yakovleva, head of the department for methodological support of e-learning at the TSU Institute of Distance Education.
HYPER / DIR-2025 PeterAI conference: digital learning and artificial intelligence technologies were held offline and online at St. Petersburg State University of Economics (UNECON). It brought together over 500 participants - experts in the field of digital education and EdTech, including representatives of universities and schools, developers of learning solutions, teachers and analysts. The main topics for discussion were modern approaches to the digitalization of education, the introduction of AI technologies in the educational process, as well as the discussion of challenges caused by rapid technological changes.
The reports, cases and discussions demonstrated that AI is already being actively implemented in education - from content creation and regulation to feedback and personalized learning. The event fostered joint initiatives, exchange of experience and further development of digital education in Russia.
The key moment of the program was the EdTek Award OOC for innovative solutions in the field of education. It is aimed at identifying and supporting breakthrough EdTech projects that can affect the development of the educational environment in Russia. This year the EdTek Award shortlists dozens of solutions ranging from digital platforms for universities to apps that use artificial intelligence for personalized learning.
The victory of the TSU team in one of the key nominations - "The best use of AI tools in online courses" was a vivid example of how the academic environment is mastering and implementing advanced digital technologies, thus making education more flexible and technological.
- The AI evaluator is a solution that can easily be integrated into any LMS system. It provides instant, personalized feedback based on user data and responses. This is especially valuable in an educational environment wh ere it is often difficult for a teacher to give a detailed assessment to each student very quickly. Due to this tool, a student receives not just a mark, but meaningful feedback adapted to its context, based on assessment criteria and even the style of interaction with students of a particular teacher, - notes Kristina Yakovleva.
Experts of the competition ranked high the online course "Generative AI for a teacher", created at TSU, for "its perfect balance of theory and practice, giving teachers powerful tools of generative AI". The main value of this course, according to the jury, is its clear structure, relevant content and high-quality feedback.
"This is not just a course, this is a ready-made solution for any teacher!", - emphasized the representative of the jury, giving the award to the team of Tomsk State University.
