Mr Hua Liu, IAEA Deputy Director General and Head of the Department of Technical Cooperation, and HE Mr Mondher Belaid, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Tunisia, signed Tunisia's Country Programme Framework (CPF) for the period 2026-2030 on 17 September 2026.
A CPF is the frame of reference for the medium-term planning of technical cooperation between a Member State and the IAEA and identifies priority areas where the transfer of nuclear technology and technical cooperation resources will be directed to support national development goals.
Tunisia has been an IAEA Member State since 1957. Its 2026-2030 CPF identifies seven priority areas:
- Nuclear and radiation safety and nuclear security
- Health and nutrition
- Food and agriculture
- Water and the environment
- Industrial applications and radiation technology
- Energy planning and nuclear power
- Nuclear knowledge development and management
