Two Arrested, Police Assaulted at Campbelltown Match

Two men were arrested, a further two were taken to hospital and two officers were allegedly assaulted during an NRL match at Campbelltown Sports Stadium overnight.

About 7.50pm (Sunday 18 May 2025), police were alerted a fight had broken out involving rival supporters, with one officer allegedly punched in the head and a second punched in the face.

A further two men were injured with one being taken by ambulance to Liverpool Hospital with suspected concussion, and a second man taken by ambulance to Campbelltown Hospital suffering facial injuries.

Additional assistance was sought from neighbouring commands with officers attached to Campbelltown City PAC, South West Metropolitan Operations Support Group and the Dog Unit attending.

A 30-year-old man was arrested and charged with affray, assault police (two counts), and resist arrest. He has been granted conditional bail to appear in Campbelltown Local Court on 12 June 2025.

A 28-year-old man was arrested for common assault and will be issued with a court attendance notice.

Four people were evicted from the stadium.

The injured officers have been treated for cuts and bruising.
