Two Disqualified Motorists Fail Drug Tests

Two disqualified drivers were arrested and had their wheels impounded after mobile driver tests at Enfield and Clearview today.

Road Policing Section officers stopped the two motorists within 20 minutes of each other this afternoon.

About 2.40pm on Wednesday 6 May, police pulled over a Toyota sedan on Park Terrace, Enfield after police checks revealed the driver to be disqualified.

The 36-year-old Enfield woman tested positive to methamphetamine. She was arrested and charged with numerous traffic offences including driving unregistered, uninsured, disqualified and with unassigned plates, as well as drug driving with a child present in the vehicle.

She was bailed to appear in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court on 22 June. Her vehicle was impounded for 28 days, and she was issued with an additional three-month loss of licence.

Then at 3pm, police attempted to pull over a motorcycle on Kent Avenue, Clearview, however, it will be alleged the rider failed to stop.

Police were able to block in the bike and approached the rider.

The 29-year-old Clearview man was arrested and charged with driving disqualified, failing to stop for police, failing to notify change of ownership and refusing to provide an oral fluid analysis for a drug test.

He was issued with a six-month instant loss of licence, and his motorcycle was impounded for 28 days.

He did not apply for bail and will appear in court tomorrow.
