Two pedestrians were lucky to escape with their lives after they were hit by a car and seriously injured in Windsor last night.
Officers were called to the Chapel Street scene following reports a motorist has lost control of their car and struck two pedestrians about 10pm.
The car, which was seen travelling at speed just prior to the crash, came to rest after crashing into a brick wall about 50m south of Peel Street.
The driver tried to run from the scene before he was detained by witnesses until police arrived.
An 18-year-old woman from Kingsbury and a 63-year-old man from Caulfield South were taken to hospital with serious injuries.
The 33-year-old driver, who returned a positive preliminary breath test for alcohol, was taken to hospital as a precaution.
Once released, he was arrested and interviewed in relation to the crash.
The Windsor man has been interviewed in relation to reckless conduct endanger serious injury, driving in a manner dangerous and other traffic offences.
He has been released and is expected to be charged on summons.
