Two Teenagers Charged After Assault Incident At Moree

Two teenagers will face court following an alleged assault incident at a school in the state's north this week.

About 3.20pm on Tuesday 24 February 2026, officers attached to New England Police District were called to a school on Albert Street, Moree, with reports of an assault.

Police arrived and were told a 12-year-old boy had been kicked and punched by a group of other students, with a 58-year-old woman also being injured during the incident.

The boy and woman were taken to a hospital in Moree where they were treated for minor injuries.

Following inquiries, on Wednesday 25 February 2026, police arrested two boys - aged 12 and 13 - in Moree. They were taken to Moree Police Station where they were each charged with two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and stalk/intimidate intend fear physical etc harm (personal).

The 12-year-old was refused bail and appeared before a children's court yesterday (Thursday 26 February 2026), where he was granted conditional bail to appear before a children's court on Thursday 19 March 2026.

The 13-year-old was granted conditional bail to appear before a children's court on Thursday 19 March 2026.
