UH Commercial Unveils Cougar Spirit to Fresh Audience

Think you know the University of Houston? Think again. As UH gears up for its historic first season in the Big 12, it's not just about making a great first impression – it's about leaving an indelible mark. The University's 2023-24 national commercial, "This Is UH," is designed to officially introduce UH to new audiences nationwide.

Produced by award-winning global marketing consultancy agency Gravity Global, in collaboration with the University's Division of Marketing and Communications, the commercial showcases the University's vibrant campus and students, groundbreaking discoveries and championship athletics. It specifically highlights UH's strategic strengths in energy, health and research. As the spot firmly states, "This is UH."

"In the heart of the nation's fourth-largest city, the University of Houston is not just emerging — we're charging ahead. As we step into the Big 12 spotlight, we're not simply unveiling our Cougar spirit to new audiences; we're inviting them to be part of our journey. Our ascent in academia and athletics is not just for us but for everyone who believes in the power of innovation, tradition and community," said Lisa Holdeman, vice president for marketing and communications.

The commercial will debut nationally on Saturday, Sept. 2 at 6 p.m. during the Houston Cougar football opener against the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) on Fox Sports. The spot will air during each televised UH football game, as well as during regional and national telecasts featuring UH athletics teams throughout the 2023-24 academic year.

Founded in 1927, the University of Houston is located in the fourth largest city in the country and is home to award-winning faculty, innovative research centers and one of the most diverse student populations in the nation. UH is the third largest university in Texas with more than 46,000 students and 316,000 alumni.
