UK Gov Seizes Thai Dog Vaccines

A package containing non GB/NI veterinary medicines was identified by an Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA) inspector working at Heathrow Worldwide Distribution Centre.

The package arrived from Thailand containing medicines destined for a residential address in Devon.

The medicines were detained and subsequently seized by an inspector from the VMD.

The following medicines were seized:

  • 1 box of 25 vials of Vanguard HTLP 5/L (Canine Distemper - Adenovirus Type 2 - Parainfluenza - Parvovirus Vaccine), manufactured by Zoetis Inc, USA.

These products are injectable vaccines intended for use in dogs. Their equivalent in the GB/NI would only be available via a veterinary prescription.

The seized vaccines were not authorised for use in GB or NI and they were not accompanied by any relevant certification to permit their import.

The medicines were seized under Regulation 25 (Importation of unauthorised veterinary medicinal products) of the Veterinary Medicines Regulations 2013.
