GENEVA - The UN Special Rapporteur on the right to development, Surya Deva, will visit Kazakhstan from 5 to 15 May 2026.
The Special Rapporteur will assess the Government's efforts to contribute to the promotion, protection and fulfilment of the right to development and realising the Sustainable Development Goals within the country.
The expert will visit and hold meetings in Astana, Turkistan and other parts of the country.
Deva will hold a press conference on Friday, 15 May 2026 at 14:00 (local time) at the UN office on Mambetov Street 14, Z11D8T7 in Astana, Kazakhstan. Access will be strictly limited to journalists.
The Special Rapporteur will present his full report to the UN Human Rights Council in September 2027.
