GENEVA - The UN Special Rapporteur on the negative impact of the unilateral coercive measures on the enjoyment of human rights, Alena Douhan, will visit the Republic of Cuba from 11 to 21 November 2025.
During her visit, Douhan will meet Government officials, representatives of international organisations, the diplomatic community, as well as associations, financial institutions, business community, academia, and other non-governmental stakeholders.
The Special Rapporteur will assess various sectors affected by unilateral sanctions, including secondary sanctions and sanctions over-compliance. She will also explore good practices as well as mitigating and coping initiatives and policies.
The expert will hold a press conference on 21 November 2025 at the International Press Centre (CPI) in Havana. Access will be strictly limited to accredited journalists.
The final report on her visit will be presented to the UN Human Rights Council in September 2026.
