A political settlement is the only way to bring long-term stability to Yemen and to address the worsening humanitarian crisis. We will continue to work with all parties to find an inclusive political solution to the conflict, which will help create the conditions for the legitimate Government to protect the human rights of Yemenis. The UK is committed to supporting women's meaningful participation in the peace process.
The UK is deeply concerned by the human rights situation in Yemen. There are credible reports of religious persecution in Houthi areas, especially of the Baha'I community.
The UK is concerned by allegations of violations of international humanitarian law. We regularly raise the importance of respecting IHL and human rights with the Coalition and encourage thorough investigations into alleged violations. We urge the Houthis to comply with IHL and to cease the indiscriminate targeting of Saudi cities with ballistic missile and drones.
We note the concerns expressed with regard to arms sales. The UK operates one of the most robust export licensing control regimes in the world and takes its obligations extremely seriously.
