GENEVA - The United Nations Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), Elizabeth Salmón, will visit Japan from 30 June to 4 July 2025.
During the visit, Salmón will exchange views on human rights issues in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea with Government officials, families of abduction victims, persons who went to the DPRK as part of a resettlement programme between 1950 and 1984 and later returned to Japan, and members of civil society and the academic community.
The Special Rapporteur will present her findings and recommendations in a report to the UN General Assembly in October 2025.
