The International Court of Justice ruled today that evidence of Hamas infiltration into UNRWA is “not sufficient to establish UNRWA’s lack of neutrality.”
In response, the Swiss human rights group United Nations Watch, which has issued over a dozen reports since 2015 documenting support for terrorism within UNRWA’s ranks - which were cited in the ICJ’s dissenting opinion at Note 77 - issued the following statement by Executive Director Hillel Neuer:
Whitewash: “Today’s ICJ opinion exonerates UNRWA by claiming there’s no evidence it lacks neutrality. That’s absurd. We’ve published hundreds of pagesproving UNRWA hired Hamas terror chiefs to key positions, glorified October 7, and is run by union leaders tied to Hamas and Islamic Jihad. The court summarily ignored the evidence, weaponizing legal terminology for a partisan agenda.”
Court Cited UNRWA’s “Independent” Review: “The ICJ built its UNRWA conclusions on the Colonna Report - a so-called independent review that UNRWA insiders themselves admitted was rigged to protect the agency. This is not international justice. It’s institutional self-protection dressed up as law.”
“By insisting that UNRWA’s terrorists are just a few bad apples, the ICJ has shredded its own credibility. We produced hundreds of pages showing that terror infestation at UNRWA is systemic. The Court’s job is to uphold truth and law, not to launder the reputation of a UN agency infiltrated by Hamas.”
“No Evidence” UNRWA Lacks Neutrality: “The ICJ says there’s no evidence of UNRWA’s lack of neutrality. Yet UN Watch documented that UNRWA teachers in a 3,000-member chat group celebrated the October 7 massacre on social media. Hamas terror chiefs like Suhail al-Hindi and Fathi Sharif led UNRWA’s unions. The Court’s blindness is willful.”
ICJ Turns Blind Eye: “This non-binding opinion by a UN-appointed court, which includes judges from China and Jordan, is a betrayal of every victim of Hamas. By legitimizing UNRWA - Hamas’s partner in indoctrination and terror - the ICJ has turned a blind eye to the truth and made a mockery of its own mandate.”
“The ICJ’s opinion isn’t law, it’s propaganda in robes. The Court ignored overwhelming evidence that UNRWA is infested with Hamas terror chiefs and operatives and instead declared the agency ‘neutral.’.”
