UNESCO Director-General Condemns Killing of Journalist in Argentina

Audrey Azoulay, Director-General of UNESCO, has called for a full and transparent investigation into the killing of journalist Griselda Blanco in Curuzú Cuatiá in northeastern Argentina on 20 May.
I condemn the killing of Griselda Blanco. Journalists and media workers, particularly those exposing wrongdoing and human rights abuses, must be protected from violence and reprisals. I call upon the authorities to ensure that the announced investigation into this crime is full and transparent, and that those responsible are brought to justice.
