A group of Bond University students are taking a stand for regional students, selecting Country Education Foundation of Australia (CEF) as its charity partner to fundraise for by selling laptop stands.

The laptop stand has been designed by the group, named 'Upstanding', who are studying a Bachelor of Business at Bond University on the Gold Coast, Queensland.

It's part of a capstone project requiring students to replicate a real-life scenario in their field of study.

The project will see the students start a real business, which will launch this semester, as part of the Business Model Execution unit of their degree.

Their business will sell its product over a 12-week period next year as part of the project, which required them to select a charity partner to fundraise for.

Proceeds from the sales will go to CEF, with a goal of selling between 300 and 500 laptop stands.

Alexis Cameron, one of the students working on the project, said they chose CEF to raise funds for, as it supported students that were likely to use laptop stands.

We wanted to make sure our profits were going somewhere that supported student life, especially those in rural areas.

The purpose of the project is to give students experience in the start-up and growth phase of a business to reflect the tasks businesses face on a daily basis.

CEF CEO Wendy Mason said it was grateful for being chosen as the charity partner for the project.

"It's a wonderful initiative and we are so grateful they have chosen CEF to support. Our rural and regional students will benefit directly from their efforts," she said.

The students have launched the laptop stands on their Instagram page – @upstandingco.
