In preparation for the 2026 Arab Forum for Sustainable Development (AFSD), ESCWA, in collaboration with the League of Arab States (LAS) and with the participation of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), convened a regional consultative meeting on the environmental dimension of the 2030 Agenda.
Under the theme "Transformative and Coordinated Environmental Solutions for Water, Energy, Industry and Cities in the Arab Region", the meeting focused on identifying transformative policies and promoting intersectoral approaches that integrate environmental sustainability into water and sanitation, energy systems, infrastructure, industrial development and urban planning.
Participants also shared best practices in green technologies and the circular economy, and discussed strengthening partnerships, mobilizing finance, facilitating technology transfer, and building capacities to achieve the SDGs.
