UNIST has officially launched a long-term developing fundraising campaign to realize its mid-to long-term growth blueprint, "Vision 2050." The first contribution came from UNIST President Chong Rae Park, who personally donated KRW 100 million to mark the campaign's beginning.
President Park's donation will serve as the catalyst for 'Together U 2050′ campaign, a small but meaningful regular-donation program that encourages members of the UNIST community and the public to participate in shaping the university's future. With a contribution of just KRW 2,050 per month, anyone can help advance science and technology, and foster the next-generation of innovators-building a collective movement toward national and regional innovation and global impact.

A Gift to Empower AI and Mind Science Research
President Park's persona contribution is dedicated to advancing UNIST's research in artificial intelligence (AI) and mind science-two key fields that embody the essence of Vision 2050. "AI solves the world's problems, while mind science addresses those of humankind," said President Park. "This donation represents both my personal and professional commitment to the next generation, and I hope it becomes a starting point for UNIST to grow together with the local community."
The initiative aligns with UNIST's ambition to become a national hub for strategic technologies and a global connector for AI innovation by 2050.

Growing Culture of Giving at UNIST
UNIST's culture of philanthropy has been gaining momentum in recent months. Junho Lee, Honorary Chairman of the Duksan Group, recently fulfilled his KRW 30 billion stock donation, while the Undang Nanum Foundation contributed KRW 1 billion to support young entrepreneurs. Local business leaders and alumni have also joined the movement, reinforcing a growing spirit of giving across the region.
In conjunction with the Together U 2050 campaign, UNIST will open its official merchandise shop, so-called the UNIQUE STORE, on November 7 at the first floor of the UNIST Library. A special 'Night of Gratitude' event will be held the day before, inviting donors and community partners to celebrate the opening.
The new store was established in response to strong demand from the UNIST community, with more than 770 members participating in a survey-668 of whom expressed the need for a campus store. The shop will feature over 80 products, including UNIST mascot plushies, stationery, and daily goods.
All proceeds will be reinvested in scholarships, research funding, and campus development projects. Several products will incorporate Ulsan's regional symbols, such as the prehistoric petroglyphs and whales, and collaborations with local companies will further strengthen community ties. Part of the profits will also be channeled into youth entrepreneurship and public-benefit programs in the region.
Building a Sustainable Cycle of Giving
"Giving does not have to be a grand decision-it can start from something small and everyday," said President Park. "We aim to create a virtuous cycle where UNIST's research achievements and innovations return tangible benefits to the community."
He added, "The UNIQUE STORE represents a sustainable link between UNIST's innovative spirit and regional development. Through it, we hope to reinvest in the dreams and research of young people, and help transform Ulsan from an industrial city into a true hub of science and technology innovation."
