UNITAR Unveils Metaverse Experience for 60th Anniversary

Geneva, Switzerland - The United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) is thrilled to announce the upcoming launch of a pioneering initiative in celebration of its 60th Anniversary - the UNITAR Metaverse. This immersive virtual journey marks a significant milestone as the first United Nations native Metaverse, harnessing technology to advance UNITAR's mission and bring its initiatives to a global audience.

UNITAR's unwavering commitment to advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) outlined in Agenda 2030 drives the organization to enhance its performance and embrace emerging trends continually. As the dedicated training arm of the United Nations, UNITAR strives to remain at the forefront of innovation and to set an example of how virtual environments can be harnessed for educational and informational purposes.

The UNITAR Metaverse pays tribute to UNITAR's 60-year legacy, raises awareness about the SDGs, and provides an immersive educational journey. The experience begins at the quintessential Alley of the Flags, as the visitor approaches the Palais des Nations in Geneva. Once inside, visitors can explore and interact with several different rooms and universes, completely immersing him/ herself in each experience, and learning along the way. The entire experience culminates in empowerment, as the visitor leaves more knowledgeable, and able to make an impact as a "UNITAR Virtual Ambassador for Positive Change".

Through this initiative, UNITAR celebrates its legacy and commitment to advancing the SDGs, equipping the present generation with the knowledge they need to lead, and laying the foundation for a future driven by purpose and sustainability.

We invite you to join us in the UNITAR Metaverse on December 7th, 2023. The UNITAR metaverse will be available to the public through February 7.
