University comfortably within top 50 of Guardian University Guide 2022

The University of Plymouth has been ranked inside the top 50 universities in the UK in the Guardian University Guide 2022.

The Guide places Plymouth 41st overall - a rise of 12 places from the previous year - with a number of notable subject performances, including being ranked best university in the UK for Dentistry.

The University also achieved top 10 positions for Education and Health Professions, having risen in those subject tables by 19 and 13 places respectively.

Other subjects to have seen a huge improvement include History (rising 27 places to rank 26th), and Nursing and Midwifery (rising 19 places on 22nd).

The University is also within the top 25% of universities in the UK for Architecture, Anatomy & Physiology, and Design & Crafts.

The Guardian University Guide is designed to focus on the things that matter most to students, such as good teaching and job prospects, and also takes into account the results of the annual National Student Survey.

Professor Judith Petts CBE, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Plymouth, said:

"Our position in the Guardian University Guide is another hugely rewarding result for the University. It demonstrates our students are positive about their studies and experiences in Plymouth, and are going on to achieve considerable success once they graduate. It is an achievement of which all our staff and students, and the wider university community, can be justifiably proud."

The University's success in the Guardian University Guide comes on the back of it being listed within the top 50 UK universities (and the top 500 internationally) in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2022.

In April, it was also named as one of the top 25 institutions globally - and 1st for marine - in the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings 2021, the only global performance tables that assess universities against the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
