University of Ljubljana and IOP Publishing sign unlimited Open Access agreement

The Central Technical Library (CTK) at the University of Ljubljana and IOP Publishing (IOPP) have signed a new three-year transformative agreement to accelerate open access (OA) research. The agreement gives users of the University of Ljubljana unlimited access to more than 90 IOPP journals and gives researchers the chance to publish accepted articles OA in most of IOPP's hybrid journals at no cost to them.

Building on a relationship that was formed in 2009, the agreement represents one of the first fully transitional agreements for the University, meaning that all eligible articles published with IOPP will be OA.

"With this transformative agreement the University of Ljubljana has met the expectations of their users and provided a suitable infrastructure for open publications in accordance with the principles of the Horizon Europe program, the principles of Coalitions S (of which Slovenian Research Agency is a member), and the principles of the newly adopted Slovenian legislation in the field of science research work. The new legislation includes strict requirements for open publication of all results conducted with publicly funded scientific research work", says Miro Pušnik, director of CTK.

"We believe that the future of science is open and transformative agreements remain the most effective way to accelerate the transition to OA. Building on our strong relationship with the university of Ljubljana, we are delighted to offer unlimited open access publishing which will truly drive the move to open science," says Miriam Maus, publishing director at IOPP.

IOPP now has agreements in place with 242 institutions in 14 countries and will continue to seek more of these arrangements that enable unlimited OA publishing.
