Unlawful use of motor vehicle, North Brisbane

Police have charged four teenagers after a tyre deflation device was successfully deployed to stop an allegedly stolen vehicle in Carseldine on Saturday, January 6.

It will be alleged the black Audi S3 was stolen from an address on Main Street in Bardon in the early hours of Saturday.

Police were made aware of the stolen vehicle later that day and were able to track its location before the police helicopter took over.

A tyre deflation device was successfully deployed onto the car just before 8pm, before it came to a stop on Gympie Arterial Road in Carseldine.

Officers, including the dog squad, managed to arrest all four teenagers after a brief attempt to flee.

Acting Assistant Commissioner for Youth Crime, Andrew Massingham, said it was testament to the officers involved that they were able to arrest all four alleged offenders so quickly and put them before the courts.

"We will not tolerate this kind of behaviour," Acting Assistant Commissioner Massingham said.

"People deserve to feel safe in their homes and when travelling on the roads, and we will do everything in our power to ensure people who commit this kind of dangerous offending are brought to justice.

"The QPS is dedicated to seeking justice for victims by holding perpetrators to account."
