Unlicenced driver more than five times over limit in Braybrook

Footscray Police allegedly picked up a drink driver more than five times over the legal limit in Braybrook early this morning.

Officers noticed a car on Ashley Street with no registration plates and intercepted the vehicle on nearby South Road about 3.30am.

Police allege the driver provided false details, did not hold a Victorian drivers licence but held a disqualified South Australian drivers licence.

The 32-year-old man returned a positive preliminary breath test before a subsequent evidentiary breath test, at a nearby station, furnished a reading of .274.

The man was also found to be wanted on four outstanding warrants including a breach of a community correction order.

He's been remanded in custody to appear in Sunshine Magistrates' Court today.

Whilst committing the offences, the man was also found to be in breach of the directions issued by the Chief Health Officer and was issued a $1652 penalty notice.

The directions by the Chief Health Officer, under the State of Emergency declared in Victoria, have been enacted to help stop the spread of Coronavirus.
