The 2020 rankings also see UNSW Business and UNSW Social Sciences move up on the list
UNSW Law has cracked the top 20 for the first time and three other subjects are ranked in the top 100 globally in the 2020 Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings by Subject released today.
The rankings, which are released in stages each spring, ranked Business and Economics (including economics & econometrics, business & management and accounting & finance), Education, Law, and Social Sciences (which includes sociology, geography, politics and international studies) among the best in the world.
UNSW Law has achieved its highest-ever ranking on the global league table, placed 18th in the world, while social sciences moved back into the top 100 (99th) and education and business retained their spots among the top 100 at 61st and 63rd, respectively.
"The latest subject rankings highlight the University's strengths in the social and business sciences," UNSW Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Research Professor Nicholas Fisk said. "Continued recognition of our world-class teaching and research in these particular disciplines underpins UNSW's status as one of the most comprehensive research-intensive universities worldwide, as shown by being listed in the most number of subjects in this year's AWRU Global Ranking of Academic Subjects."
This rise in THE subject rankings comes off the back of UNSW's strong performance in the 2020 THE World University Rankings where UNSW jumped an unprecedented 25 spots to 71st.
