'Up-skirter' charged at Wollongong

A man has been charged after allegedly filming up the skirt of a woman in a shopping centre in Wollongong last week.

On Tuesday 1 September 2020, a 31-year-old woman was shopping at a supermarket on the Princes Highway at Figtree, when she noticed a man acting strangely and reported it to staff.

The following day (Wednesday 2 September 2020), officers attached to Wollongong Police District were alerted and an investigation into the incident commenced.

Police will allege that while the woman was walking through the aisles, a man used a mobile phone to film up her dress on a number of occasions.

Following inquiries, about 12.15pm yesterday (Monday 7 September 2020), police attended a home in Wollongong and arrested a 51-year-old man.

A mobile phone and digital camera was seized for examination.

The man was taken to Wollongong Police Station and charged with film person's private parts without consent.

He was granted conditional bail to appear in Wollongong Local Court on Tuesday 20 October 2020.
