Update - partial closure of Mount Martha North beach to continue

MPSLogo_News.jpg

A section of Mount Martha North beach is likely to remain closed over summer, as unseasonal rain and volatile weather further destabilise the cliff at the back of the beach.

Community safety remains our priority and we urge members of the public not to enter the roped-off area of beach.

We are in ongoing contact with the owners of the 49 beach boxes next to the cliff and have let them know it is still unsafe to access their beach boxes.

The state government has ultimate responsibility for all foreshore Crown land, and we will continue to work closely with the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP) to manage this issue.

Ongoing wet weather has delayed progress on a risk assessment of the beach. The assessment should be completed early in the new year and will inform next steps.
