The boil water alert for Katherine, Beswick, Binjari and Tindal has been cancelled, effective immediately.
Power and Water Corporation has verified test results, showing that the water is free from E. coli or any harmful bacteria.
The Chief Health Officer has advised that water in Katherine, Beswick and Binjari is safe to drink, and boiling is no longer required.
Jilkminggan, Naiuyu and Palumpa boil water alert
The boil water alert for Jilkminggan, Naiuyu and Palumpa remain in place.
People in these areas should continue to use cooled, boiled water or bottled water before drinking, cooking, brushing teeth or preparing food.
The boil water alert will remain in place until water quality test results indicate the water is safe to drink.
If any harmful bacteria are detected, including the presence of E. coli, additional testing will be required. New samples will need to be collected and analysed, which would take up to 24 hours to complete.
Public health safety remains the priority, and the alert will only be lifted when the Chief Health Officer is confident the water supply is safe to drink.
