UPDATED WITH CHARGES: Investigation into stabbing - Cockle Bay Wharf

A man has appeared in court and detectives have released CCTV images of six men as part of their investigation into a stabbing at Darling Harbour yesterday.

About 1.30am (Monday 28 March 2022), officers from Sydney City Police Area Command were called to Wheat Road, Cockle Bay Wharf, to disperse a large crowd outside a café which had reached capacity.

As police were dispersing the crowd, they were told a fight had broken out between a large group of males inside the venue about 2am.

Police deployed OC spray to break up the fight before finding a 21-year-old man with stab wounds.

Officers arrested a 20-year-old man at the scene and provided first aid to the 21-year-old before the arrival of NSW Ambulance paramedics.

The older man was taken to St Vincent's Hospital, where he remains in a stable condition.

The younger man was taken to Day Street Police Station where he was charged with affray and assault occasioning actual bodily harm in company of others.

The Peakhurst man was refused bail and appeared in Central Local Court yesterday, where he was granted conditional bail to appear in Downing Centre Local Court on Monday 11 April 2022.

As part of the ongoing investigation, detectives from Sydney City Police Area Command have released CCTV images of six men they would like to speak to.

The men are described as being of African appearance.

The first man is of medium build with short, bleached hair. At the time, he was wearing an open black button-up shirt, grey pants, red and black sneakers.

The second man is of medium build with short black hair. At the time, he was wearing a black polo shirt, black pants, and white sneakers.

The third man is of medium build with short black hair. At the time, he was wearing a white Ellesse sweater, and light-coloured tracksuit pants.

The fourth man is of medium build with short black hair. At the time, he was wearing a white T-shirt with black pants.

The fifth man is of medium build with short black hair. At the time, he was wearing a white and blue stripped top with dark coloured pants.

The sixth man is of medium build. He was wearing a black, long-sleeved button-up shirt with grey-coloured pants and black boots.
