Council has received $1.3 million from the Victorian Government to revitalise Andrew Park in Eltham through the Local Parks Program.

Initial concept plans are now available to view and provide feedback via Council's community engagement website Participate Nillumbik until Sunday 1 August.

The plans have been developed by Jeavons Landscape Architects, who designed the award-winning Eltham North Adventure Playground.

The proposal includes:

  • Nillumbik's first outdoor exercise area for seniors
  • two basketball half courts
  • climbing equipment for all abilities
  • unisex toilets
  • a sensory garden
  • bicycle repair station
  • seating and a shelter

Nillumbik Mayor Peter Perkins said Andrew Park was a popular recreation area.

"I thank the Victorian Government and particularly Eltham MP Vicki Ward for their significant financial support of this project," Cr Perkins said.

"With a seniors exercise area, basketball half courts and climbing equipment, we hope this proposed revitalisation provides residents of all ages opportunities to keep active, and improve their health and wellbeing.

"The new facilities, toilets, drinking fountain, bicycle repair station and seating will also provide a pleasant rest stop for users of the Diamond Creek Trail.

"I encourage park users to take a look at the plans and tell us what you think."

Council is inviting the community to let us know what they think of the current proposal to help inform any changes to the project.

A pop-up information session will be held on Saturday 17 July, 10am-12pm with a Council officer available to answer questions.
