Upgrade Works Continue At Public Pools

Cooma and Bombala public pools will remain closed while upgrade works are completed.

After a series of meetings with the project contractor, Council is unable to confirm revised opening dates for the two facilities.

We will continue to work with the contractor through a series of issues which have delayed the pools' reopening past the dates we previously announced.

This is disappointing news for everyone looking forward to using the upgraded pools. We know how important the pools are to the Cooma and Bombala communities and we're sorry for the inconvenience and uncertainty the ongoing delays have caused.

Work on the two pool facilities includes refurbishment of the main pools, new filtration systems and plant room upgrades.

Over the last few months, we've announced expected reopening dates for the pools based on available information. Unfortunately, these deadlines have not been met due to a range of factors including contractual matters, payments, construction issues, equipment delays, and weather.

Council and our contractor have also faced significant challenges because of what's known as 'latent conditions' — issues on a construction site that only become known once work is underway.

Our priority is working with the project contractor to ensure the upgrades are successfully completed and works and supplies are paid for.

Adaminaby and Berridale pools remain free of charge until all pools in our region have reopened. Council resolved to provide free buses to the school carnivals to Adaminaby and Berridale pools.
