Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III spoke today with Cypriot Minister of Defense Michalis Giorgallas to thank him for Cyprus' close partnership in enabling U.S. support for humanitarian operations and to ensure the safety and security of U.S. citizens in the region. Secretary Austin commended Cyprus for its steadfast support to Ukraine and role in supporting the flow of humanitarian aid to Israel and Gaza. The two leaders also expressed appreciation for the expanding bilateral defense relationship between the United States and Cyprus.
