U.S. President Trump Announces Judicial Nominees, a United States Attorney Nominee, and a United States Marshal Nominee

Today, President Donald J. Trump announced his intent to nominate:

J. Philip Calabrese of Ohio, to serve as Judge on the United States District Court for the Northern District of Ohio.

Philip Calabrese currently serves as a Judge on the Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas. Before taking the bench in 2019, Judge Calabrese was a partner at Porter, Wright, Morris & Arthur, LLP, where he co-chaired the firm's class action practice. Judge Calabrese also serves as an adjunct professor at Case Western Reserve University School of Law. Upon graduation from law school, Judge Calabrese served as a law clerk to Judge Alice M. Batchelder of the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. He earned his B.A., summa cum laude, from the College of the Holy Cross, and his J.D., cum laude, from Harvard Law School.

James R. Knepp II of Ohio, to serve as Judge on the United States District Court for the Northern District of Ohio.

James Knepp currently serves as a United States Magistrate Judge for the Northern District of Ohio. Before taking the bench in 2010, Judge Knepp spent over 15 years as a civil litigation attorney with Robison, Curphey & O'Connell, LLC in Toledo, Ohio. Upon graduation from law school, Judge Knepp served as a law clerk to Judge John W. Potter of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Ohio. Judge Knepp earned his B.A., magna cum laude, from Mount Union College, his M.A. from Bowling Green State University, and his J.D.,summa cum laude, from the University of Toledo College of Law, where he was a member of the editorial board for the University of Toledo Law Review.

Brett H. Ludwig of Wisconsin, to serve as Judge on the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin.
