USAID Chief Power Discusses Aid with Swedish Minister Forssell

USAID

Today, Administrator Samantha Power spoke with Johan Forssell, Sweden's Minister for International Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade, to discuss the U.S. and Sweden's ongoing collaboration to address pressing international crises. In addition to providing critical humanitarian assistance in Gaza, the United States and Sweden continue to work together to support communities and families impacted by Russia's war against Ukraine.

Administrator Power expressed her gratitude to Minister Forssell for Sweden's global leadership, and the two talked about how the United States and Sweden can continue to expand our critical partnership to advance shared goals around the world, including with the UN-authorized Multinational Security Support mission in Haiti.

Among other topics, the Administrator and Minister Forssell discussed Reporters Shield, a USAID program aimed at addressing the growing rise and threat of spurious lawsuits meant to silence journalists. They also discussed each agency's commitment to conservation, including wildlife restoration in Mozambique.
