UniSC has been notified of a cyber incident impacting the Canvas learning management system
Instructure, the company that owns and operates the Canvas learning management system, has confirmed a cybersecurity incident on their systems affecting some Canvas user information.
Canvas is used by universities globally, including UniSC, and on 6 May, Instructure confirmed that we are one of the many universities worldwide that have been impacted. They are still ascertaining specifics by institution and we will share further details with staff and students as this progresses.
UniSC has added our own extra security checks and will continue to implement additional controls.
Canvas is operating as normal and there has been no known impact to teaching.
