VCE English Exam Gets Underway

VCE written exams officially began today with 41,265 students sitting the English exam and another 4,068 are sitting English as an Additional Language exam at 9am this morning.

Minister for Education James Merlino wished all students who are sitting VCE exams this year the best of luck and congratulated students, teachers and families on their hard work in the lead up to their final exams.

Across all subjects, 82,694 students will sit at least one examination by the time exams finish on 20 November.

This year's top ten VCE subjects are English, further mathematics, psychology, mathematical methods, health and human development, biology, business management, physical education, legal studies and chemistry.

Key facts and figures for the 2019 exam period include:

  • Number of students sitting at least one exam: 82,694
  • 41,265 students sitting the English exam on 30 October
  • 4,068 students sitting English as an Additional Language exam on 30 October
  • Number of mature-age students sitting exams: 326
  • Number of VCE languages with exams: 47
  • Examination centres in Victoria schools: 522
  • Largest examination centre: Bendigo Senior Secondary College (1,049 students)
  • Smallest examination centre: Geelong Baptist College (3 students)
