Vehicle intercept leads to drug arrest - Burleigh Heads

Police have charged a man after the alleged discovery of a large quantity of methamphetamine during a vehicle intercept at Burleigh Heads yesterday afternoon.

Around 5.50pm detectives from the Gold Coast Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) intercepted a vehicle driving along West Burleigh Road.

The driver of the vehicle was acting suspiciously which led police to conduct a search of his vehicle.

It is alleged police located a quantity of methylamphetamine (ICE) valued in excess of $10,000 and a smoking implement.

A 42-year-old man from Currumbin Waters has been charged with possession of dangerous drug in excess of the schedule and possession of a utensil.

He will appear in the Southport Magistrates Court on May 2.

Detective Inspector Brendan Smith from Gold Coast CIB said this overnight arrest demonstrates the mantra of drug enforcement occurring anytime, anywhere.
