Community members are invited to the annual Yarra Ranges Volunteer Expo, to learn about making the region a better place to live, work and play.
The expo will be held from 9.30am to noon on Saturday, 30 May at the Lilydale Civic Centre, 15 Anderson Street, Lilydale with more than 20 local community groups, charities and organisations hosting stalls.
Entry is free.
Yarra Ranges Mayor, Cr Richard Higgins, said that volunteering was the backbone of the community.
"Every year, countless community members give their time, thoughts and passion to making the Yarra Ranges the best it possibly can be," Cr Higgins said.
"People volunteer with charities to help connect others to support. They join environmental groups to protect and enhance our biodiversity. By sharing their skills, volunteers help make the world a better place. The strong community spirit and beautiful environment of the Yarra Ranges exist because of their dedication.
"This expo is an opportunity to think about where you might like to lend your skills or time, and how a small bit of effort can have brilliant ripple effects across the community.
"There are a variety of ways people can contribute, and the expo is the best opportunity to come ask questions and see what might work for you.
"If you're looking for a way to give back, a way to use your time or just to get connected with people in your community, this is an incredible opportunity."
Cr Higgins said that stall spaces were still available for community organisations, charities and groups.
