Visit to Indonesia and Singapore

Dept of Industry, Science and Resources

The Minister for Industry and Science Ed Husic will visit Indonesia and Singapore between Sunday, 23 July and Thursday, 27 July.

The purpose of the visit is to continue momentum toward closer economic cooperation with these important regional partners.

The Minister is scheduled to participate in a series bilateral meetings with senior Ministerial counterparts focussing on opportunities to strengthen economic relationships with both countries.

This includes following through on the recent agreement by Prime Minister Albanese and President Widodo to explore ways for collaboration on Indonesia's efforts to develop an electric vehicle manufacturing ecosystem.

The Minister will update counterparts on the Albanese government's $15 billion National Reconstruction Fund and explore opportunities for co-investment in rebuilding Australia's industrial capabilities.

And he will engage on developments in the thriving digital economy, looking for further opportunities for Australian tech to collaborate.

Deepening Australia's connection to our closest neighbours is one of the Albanese government's key priorities.

The Minister's visit will build on the strong engagement the Albanese government has forged with Indonesia and Singapore since coming to office.

This includes the successful Annual Australia-Indonesia Leaders meeting attended by President Widodo in Sydney earlier this month and last year's historic Green Economy deal with Singapore.

Quotes attributable to Ed Husic, Minister for Industry and Science:

"Indonesia and Singapore aren't just our close neighbours, they are vibrant, successful economies and they want to do more with Australia.

"Deepening our economic engagement will bring greater prosperity for our country and our region.

"And it will help us work together confront challenges, like responding to climate change."
