Kingston Council is encouraging the community to provide feedback on its draft new Community Local Law.
Mayor Georgina Oxley said local laws are developed in partnership with the community to address local needs and issues, with the aim of helping to protect public health, safety and local amenity.
"We want to ensure Kingston remains a liveable, safe, and healthy place to live, while protecting public spaces, infrastructure, and the environment," Cr Oxley said.
"It's important that our new Local Law reflects the priorities of our community."
Key areas of community interest include:
- Requiring a permit to store boats, trailers, and caravans on public roads
- No new gates from private homes into public parks and foreshore areas
- New powers to fence or screen vacant properties
- Replacing protected trees that are removed
- Requirements for advertising signs, including candidate election signage
The mayor is wanting the community to get involved and have their say.
"We want to hear from you about the draft law. This is your opportunity to help shape the local laws that support a safe, healthy and enjoyable community for everyone," she said.
