When a volcano erupts, emergency alerts go out to cell phones and radio and television stations warning people of the danger and giving them safety instructions. But what happens to the animals living on or near the volcano?
In this video, Penn State researchers Julian Avery, associate research professor of wildlife ecology and conservation, and Christelle Wauthier, associate professor of geosciences and Institute for Computational and Data Sciences co-hire, answer questions about volcanic eruptions submitted by elementary school students wanting to know what happens to humans' furry, feathered and scaly neighbors.
