Hills Shire residents can now register to volunteer to care for the beloved Roxborough Park Rose Garden at Alfred Henry Whaling Memorial Reserve, Baulkham Hills.

From Wednesday 8 February, volunteering in the Rose Garden will be available every Wednesday from 9am – 12pm. Volunteers who sign up will help maintain the beautiful garden by pruning and weeding.

Mayor of The Hills Shire Dr Peter Gangemi said this was a unique opportunity for fans of the Rose Garden to be more involved in its care.

"The Roxborough Park Rose Garden is an icon in The Hills and the second largest Rose Garden of its kind in NSW after the Botanic Gardens".

"Everyone is welcome to help care for the Rose Garden and no experience is needed. The Rose Garden has been a much-loved community asset for decades and volunteering in the garden is a great way to make new memories there with family and friends," Mayor Gangemi said.

"This is a unique volunteering opportunity in a beautiful setting among the roses and the rose arbour.

"Afterwards, you can even stop in at the café at Waves Fitness & Aquatic Centre to have some lunch or grab a coffee," Mayor Gangemi added.

Registrations are essential. To register, visit Council's website, www.thehills.nsw.gov.au and search for 'Roxborough Park Rose Garden Volunteering.'
