WA Man Extradited Over Drug Trafficking

Detectives from the Townsville Criminal Investigation Branch have successfully extradited a wanted man from Western Australia after he was located on board a yacht in an alleged attempt to leave the country.

The Western Australia Police Force tactical response group intercepted a luxury yacht 53km off the coast of Exmouth at about 8am on Monday (1 June, 2026), with three people on board allegedly headed towards Indonesia.

The WA Joint Organised Crime Taskforce (WA JOCTF) arrested the 32-year-old Townsville man and two other people on Monday morning (1 June, 2026) near Exmouth, about 1250km north of Perth.

The 32-year-old Townsville man, an alleged outlaw motorcycle gang member, appeared in Perth Magistrates Court on 2 June, where he was remanded in custody after Queensland Police successfully applied to extradite him on a return to prison warrant and a drug trafficking arrest warrant. He is also wanted for questioning over multiple serious crimes.

The man is expected to appear before Brisbane Magistrates Court tomorrow, 5 June, in relation to trafficking in dangerous drugs, assault occasioning bodily harm, two counts of driving whilst unlicensed and evade police.
