WA Wildflower Event Celebrates 2025 Milestone

  • More than 70 events taking place for the Everlasting Kings Park Festival
  • The 2025 Everlasting Kings Park Festival coincides with the 60th anniversary of the Western Australian Botanic Garden
  • Festival celebrations run from 12-29 September 2025

The Everlasting Kings Park Festival program launch today showcases a host of spring events, alongside the 60th anniversary of the Western Australian Botanic Garden.

Visitors to Kings Park and Bold Park can experience dozens of free and low-cost exhibitions, walks and talks, wellness events, guided tours and workshops from 12-29 September.

This year's festival also commemorates the 60th anniversary of the Western Australian Botanic Garden, the State's flora conservation hub in the heart of Kings Park.

The Western Australian Botanic Garden hosts the Festival's famous spring displays. Special events such as science tours will be included in the Festival to mark the diamond anniversary.

The Western Australian Botanic Garden's 60th anniversary year also includes archival exhibitions and special events at the State Library of Western Australia and the Western Australian Museum.

On 7 October, Professor Stephen Hopper, renowned Australian biologist and previous Director of Kings Park, will deliver a public address at the State Library and will be joined by other former and current Botanic Gardens and Parks Authority leaders to discuss the history and future of the WA institution.

Commemorative limited-edition merchandise featuring specially commissioned artworks will be available at Aspects of Kings Park to mark the six-decade celebration.

The anniversary will also be celebrated with the release of a new Kings Park plant, the 'White Diamond' waxflower. The plant was developed by the same team that developed the landmark blue Kangaroo Paw.

A highlight of the 60th anniversary celebrations will be Kings Park's Community Garden Party on 29 September, on the final day of the Everlasting Kings Park Festival.

The free community event will feature a range of fun floral festivities and performances from exciting new Western Australian musicians from Festival partner WA Music's stable of showcase artists, including Reuben De Melo, Anna Schneider, Angie Colman and Siena Rebelo.

As stated by the Environment Minister Matthew Swinbourn:

"Kings Park is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Western Australia, and spring is undoubtably the best time to visit this iconic destination.

"Not only does the Everlasting Kings Park Festival showcase the best of our spring wildflowers, it presents a range of free events for the community to enjoy.

"Highlighting the 60th anniversary of the Western Australian Botanic Garden also reminds us of the important scientific research and conservation taking place every day in Kings Park.

"I encourage everyone to not only appreciate the wildflower displays, but to get to know the Western Australian Botanic Garden a little better this Everlasting Kings Park Festival."
