Walk Walls Cronulla - this weekend

Sutherland Shire Council

Cronulla is buzzing with excitement about the Walk the Walls street art festival this weekend, where street artists will paint and beautify the walls and alleys of our beach-side suburb.

Kicking off on Friday and continuing throughout the weekend, more than 35 local, Indigenous and national artists will create an outdoor art gallery and exhibition for the entire community to enjoy.

Walk the Walls is jointly funded by Council and the NSW Government and this year's theme is 'Sustainable Coastal Cronulla'. The festival forms part of our commitment to crime prevention across Sutherland Shire, reducing graffiti vandalism and providing a boost to the local economy.

This year's event also coincides with Australian Music Week, with the streets of Cronulla also filled with musical entertainment.

"This year we will have a youth mural, a senior's mural entitled 'A Walk Through Time' and we'll even have a pop-up library offering a virtual reality experience," said Sutherland Shire Mayor, Councillor Carmelo Pesce.

"I'm so excited that we are again hosting this free outdoor festival for our community and I hope everyone enjoys exploring all that Cronulla has to offer this weekend.

"It's going to be a busy weekend in Cronulla, and with sections of the council car park closed as artists beautify the area, we advise visitors to catch public transport."

There will be a range of activities to enjoy while walking through the streets and witnessing works of art come to life. Visitors can follow the street art trail via Council's virtual map on their website, which can be accessed easily by scanning the QR code that will be located throughout the trail. The festival program will also be available as a limited edition booklet along the trail.

The weekend will truly be a feast for the eyes and ears. As well as the street-art trail Cronulla will play host to:
