Home to Wallington Cricket Club and Bellarine Bears Baseball Club, this district level reserve is a well-used sporting and social hub, however the change rooms aren't compliant, female-friendly or accessible to people with disability.
We're addressing these issues by carrying out a full redevelopment of the pavilion, including demolition works, and extension of the existing building.
The $4.25 million project will deliver two brand new compliant changerooms, accessible toilets, kitchen/canteen and social space, without the narrow doorways and walkways, steps and door handles that challenge accessibility currently.
This overhaul, a strategic priority in the Ocean Grove Sporting Infrastructure Plan 2025, will directly benefit the players and staff involved in the all abilities programs run by both clubs.
Funded by $3.25 million from the City and up to $1 million from the Victorian Government's Regional Community Sports Infrastructure Fund - All Abilities Infrastructure (Round 1) grant, the works are shaped by feedback from cricket and baseball club representatives on the project reference group and community consultation from the Ocean Grove Sporting Infrastructure Plan 2025.

The pavilion at Wallington Reserve is due for a much-needed refresh. We're excited to partner with the Victorian Government to deliver a new fit-for-purpose pavilion that is accessible to community members of all abilities, ages and genders.
Following an open tender process, Plan Group Geelong was found to be the most suitably qualified and experienced to deliver the works.
The construction works, which are expected to wrap up in the second half of 2026, will generate jobs in Greater Geelong and support local suppliers.
Modern social infrastructure such as sporting pavilions are known to contribute to better health, wellbeing and social outcomes in communities and encourage people of different ages and abilities to have a crack at sport.
We look forward to seeing the finished product!
