Wanted man arrested and charged - Hunter Valley

A man has been arrested and charged following a police operation in the state's Hunter region today.

About 9.20am (Thursday 3 February 2022), officers attached to Hunter Valley Police District attended a home on Brunker Street, Kurri Kurri, as part of ongoing inquiries into domestic violence offences.

Police attempted to speak to a man at the address who allegedly fled the scene on foot before he was arrested a short distance away with the assistance of officers attached to the Northern Region Domestic Violence Arrest Team.

The 35-year-old man was taken to Cessnock Police Station before being taken to Cessnock Hospital for assessment of minor injuries unrelated to the arrest.

Once released, he returned to Cessnock Police Station where he was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm (DV) (two counts), common assault and destroy or damage property (DV) (three counts).

The man – from Weston – appeared at Cessnock Local Court today (Thursday 3 February 2022), where he was refused bail to attend the same court on Wednesday 9 February 2022.
