Wanted man caught in stolen car, South Australia

Wanted man Michael Paul Johnstone was arrested in Pennington this morning.

Just after 8.35am Friday 13 March police spotted a Silver ute travelling through Parafield Gardens. Checks revealed the ute was stolen and also baring stolen number plates.

The car was not pursued by police but seen to travel south on Port Wakefield Road, Churchill Road North, Gallipoli Drive, South Road, Days Road before entering the Angle Park / Mansfield Park area.

Police set up road spikes on Faulkner Street which successfully spiked the utes tyres. The car continued, crashing into the side of an unmarked police car on Parker Street, the officers inside the car received minor injuries.

The ute again kept going before entering Ninth Avenue, Woodville North and crashing at the end of Burleigh Avenue, Pennington.

The driver and sole occupant of the car ran from the ute but was caught by patrols on nearby Northgate Street and arrested.

The 28-year-old Pennington man has been taken to hospital for treatment of minor injuries. He is expected to be charged with a number of serious offences and refused bail.
