The much-loved cultural festival Wardarnji returns to Esplanade Park on Saturday 29 November, offering an unforgettable evening of Nyoongar dance, storytelling and song.
Since its inception in 1998, Wardarnji has celebrated one of the world's oldest and richest cultures, sharing Nyoongar traditions with the wider community.
This annual, free festival showcases both traditional and contemporary performances by dancers of all ages, alongside vibrant market stalls featuring local Nyoongar artists, makers, and small business owners.
Fremantle Mayor Hannah Fitzhardinge is encouraging the community to attend.
"Wardarnji is a living celebration of the Nyoongar people's rich history, sharing the stories and dances of the 14 clan groups of southwest WA.
"Each year, this festival brings our community together, giving them an opportunity to see, hear and feel the traditions, wisdom, and strong connection to Country that define Nyoongar culture.
"It's a nationally important event, and we are proud to host it once again here in Walyalup Fremantle, on Whadjuk Nyoongar Boodjar," Mayor Fitzhardinge said.
Led by celebrated Nyoongar performer and producer Karla Hart, Wardarnji unites over 100 performers in an exhilarating fusion of traditional and contemporary dance.
"Wardarnji is a proud celebration of Noongar dance and culture - a powerful showcase of our community's strength that lifts the spirit and feeds the soul," Hart said.
The event is family-friendly and suitable for all ages, with food vendors opening from 4pm and performances beginning at 6pm.
