Warrnambool Races Boost For Regions

Labor is backing the iconic Warrnambool Racing Carnival.

Minister for Racing Anthony Carbines joined racegoers in Warrnambool for the three‑day carnival from 5 to 7 May.

The Labor Government has invested $45,000 to upgrade facilities at the Warrnambool Racing Club, with works now complete ahead of the carnival.

The investment has delivered improved access to the judges' tower creating a safer and more comfortable workspace.

The Labor Government has also provided a further $20,000 through the Regional Racing Events Fund to support the carnival including entertainment and temporary event infrastructure.

Off the track, racegoers will enjoy performances from Super Boogie Band, The Piano Men, and an INXS tribute show to close the carnival.

The Warrnambool Racing Carnival is one of the south‑west's biggest annual events generating an estimated $14.3 million for the local and broader economy.

Racing continues on Wednesday 6 May with the Warrnambool Greyhound Cup delivered by the Warrnambool Greyhound Racing Club.

The Labor Government has invested $15,000 to support this year's Greyhound Cup.

Victoria's regional racing industry contributes $1.17 billion to the state's economy each year and supports more than 9,000 full‑time equivalent jobs.

This year, the Government is investing $23 million through the Backing Jobs in Victorian Racing initiative to grow the industry, support regional communities and sustain thousands of local jobs.
