Western Australia's defence industry has taken centre stage at the fifth annual WA Defence Industry 2025 Gala Dinner, with more than 900 industry leaders and innovators gathering at Optus Stadium.
The event recognises WA's world-class expertise in defence technology, shipbuilding, and advanced manufacturing, as well as the industry's role in delivering cutting-edge capability that enhances our national security.
Defence Industries Minister Paul Papalia presented two prestigious awards at the gala:
- Minister's Award for Excellence in Defence Industry(SME)- recognising a small-to-medium enterprise that exemplifies the best of Western Australia and the defence industry through innovation, success, and commitment; and
- Minister's Award for Services to Defence Industry(Individual)- honouring an individual who has demonstrated defence values and exceptional leadership over many years of service to the defence community.
The WA Defence Industry 2025 Gala Dinner is hosted by the Henderson Alliance and Australian Industry and Defence Network (AIDN) WA, with support from sponsors including Austal, Defence West, Babcock, ASC, and many others.
As stated by Defence Industries Minister Paul Papalia:
"The State continues to cement its position as Australia's defence manufacturing powerhouse, supporting local jobs and diversifying the economy.
"I want to thank the industry and congratulate all the award winners - you've played a vital role, and this is just the beginning.
"Big things are happening in Western Australia from Submarine Rotational Force - West to next-generation frigates, the Henderson Defence Precinct, and AUKUS - only WA's defence sector can make it all happen."

Brett's work is pivotal in promoting industry collaboration and maximising engagement with local companies, especially in major projects to support continuous naval shipbuilding. He serves on the board of the Henderson Alliance as deputy chair, further contributing to strengthening industry collaboration and advocacy and is also the driving force behind the creation of the WA Defence Industry Gala Dinner and celebration. |
